ARTIST STATEMENT
I paint what cannot be said plainly, resilience, transformation, the quiet space between vulnerability and strength. My work grew from color's absence: a childhood shaped by war, where beauty had been stripped away. Color became my way of giving it back.
Each collection is a chapter, the female form as power, the umbrella as shelter and identity, the land as memory. I don't paint to represent the world as it is, but to offer what it feels like to move through it, and to become something more.

Merita Jaha is a contemporary artist whose work explores the intersection of movement, resilience, and transformation. Through expressive abstraction, rich color, and evocative figurative form, she creates paintings that invite contemplation and emotional connection.
Whether depicting the strength of the female form, the symbolism of a bicycle beneath an umbrella, or the rhythm of imagined landscapes, each collection reflects the human journey, our capacity to endure, evolve, and find beauty in becoming.
Her paintings are held in private collections and exhibited internationally, resonating with collectors who seek depth, elegance, and lasting significance. Guided by intuition as much as technique, she creates art that transcends representation, offering moments of reflection and timeless presence.

BIO
Merita Jaha was born in Kosovo, in a country reshaped by war, where the color and culture of the past had been replaced by grey, Soviet-block skylines. That absence became the beginning of everything her work now offers: a lifelong devotion to color and beauty.
She holds a Master's Degree in Art and has built a career spanning nine solo exhibitions, over forty group exhibitions and art festivals internationally, including a permanent place in the Art Museum of Cosenza, Italy. She has been honored with civic recognition for her advocacy on behalf of children in need, and recently took the stage as a TEDx speaker exploring how art can cultivate happiness.
Her work extends beyond the canvas. She founded the Children for Children Art Auction in Kosovo and Albania, where students created artwork to raise awareness for children in need, work that helped lead to the creation of a special school for children with autism in Albania. She was honored by the Mayor of Fier, Albania, for this advocacy.
Her large-scale murals span Kosovo, Montenegro, Phoenix, and Buffalo, including the South Buffalo Community Table, created with local high school students, and the Heart sculpture at Goodyear Park in Phoenix. Based in Buffalo, NY, she continues to teach, create, and collaborate on public art that brings beauty into shared spaces.
